To advertise or conduct any sale of goods or merchandise at retail that is
represented as a "Going-Out-of- Business Sale," or which by representation or
advertisement intends to lead the public to believe the person conducting the
sale is going-out-of-business, a license must be obtained. A statement of
inventory of goods to be sold with the wholesale or cost price of such goods
must be filed. Exempted from provisions of ordinance are trustees in bankruptcy,
executors, administrators, receivers or public officers acting under judicial
orders.

In applying for this License, it is the clear understanding of the applicant
that the business will be terminated and the premises vacated at the conclusion
of sale.
The undersigned certifies that no Going-Out-of-Business License has been issued
to the applicant within the past twelve (12) months' period within the City of
Plainfield.

It is further affirmed that:
a) All goods included in this original inventory were purchased for resale or bona fide orders without
cancellation privileges and do not comprise goods purchased on consignment.
b) This inventory does not include goods ordered in contemplation of conducting a sale for license applied
for, any unusual purchase, or addition to the stock of goods of the business hereby affected within thirty
(30) days before the date of application.
RECORD OF INVENTORY
The statement of inventory shall contain an accurate list of the merchandise to be sold, together with the
wholesale or cost prices of such goods. The goods must have been purchased for resale or on bona fide orders,
without cancellation privileges, and shall not include goods purchased on consignment. Such inventory shall not
include goods ordered in contemplation of conducting a "going out of business sale." Any unusual purchase or
addition to stock of goods of business hereby affected acquired within 30 days of the filing of an application
hereinunder shall be deemed to be of such character. Applicant, by affidavit, must affirm the information given is
complete, and known by him to be true. The applicant must state that the business is actually going out of business, and will vacate the premises at the conclusion of the sale. Licensee shall not replenish or add to the inventory while sale is in progress.

The Clerk may verify the details of a statement of inventory filed to obtain a license, or s/he may check and verify
the items sold, or s/he may call upon the Assessing Officer to verify the statement. No license shall fail or refuse
to give the Clerk, or her/his designee, all the facts connected with the statement of inventory and sale thereof or
any information s/he may require to make a thorough investigation of all phases of the sale.
